Influential Scottish rock band Primal Scream, Britpop veterans Ocean Colour Scene and festival founders Levellers will headline the main stage at Beautiful Days 2013.

They will be joined on the main stage bill by Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor, hip hop legends Arrested Development, Irish rockabilly revivalist Imelda May, English rock band Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, festival favourites The Wonder Stuff, French ska and reggae ensemble Babylon Circus, Jamaican ska legends The Skatalites, 2 Tone ska band The Selecter, gypsy/dubstep/swing group Molotov Jukebox, plus alt rock 5 piece Brother & Bones and French ska outfit Skamanians.

Headliners in The Big Top include legendary English folk/rock singer, songwriter and guitarist Roy Harper and Irish folk legends Clannad who are joined on the bill by traditional folk music duo Spiers & Boden, acoustic trio of sisters The Staves, 11 piece Scottish folk super group Treacherous Orchestra, Irish singer-songwriter Damien Dempsey, solo singer-songwriter Viv Albertine formerly of The Slits, Irish folk musician and accordion player Sharon Shannon, festival stalwarts Headmix Collective and jazz-folk group Sheelanagig.

Also playing in The Big Top are acoustic singer-songwriter Gaz Brookfield, German folk rock band The Emily Brothers, award-winning stomp band from Orkney The Chair, Irish folk singer Heidi Talbot, alt-folk band Moulettes, Sam Lee & Friends and the unique ensemble that are The Fabulous Good Time Party Boys. The first acts announced for The Little Big Top are Andy C and Banco De Gaia.

The last remaining acts for the two main stages will be announced over the coming months and full line-ups for The Little Big Top, The Bimble Inn, The Band Stand and The Theatre Tent. The festival’s Sunday Theme has not been announced yet.

Cornish theatre company Cube Theatre present a new adaptation of the classic story of one puppet’s quest to become a real boy.  ‘Pinocchio’ is a captivating tale, featuring spellbinding puppetry, original music, and a bundle of laughs! We also welcome the Multi Story Theatre Company who present a fast, physical and very funny re-telling of a traditional Russian folk tale ‘The Firebird’.

The award-winning Exeter based touring clowns Le Navet Bete present the hilarious, highly visual and engaging ‘Napoleon: A Defence’. The show which includes clowning, physical theatre, live music and acrobatics is a truly ridiculous journey into the historically accurate past. Dom Coyote and a cast of musicians present ‘The Ruan Tree’ -  a twisted tale, using music, story and theatre to build a dream like world where a young boy is lost and alone, trying to find his way back to the summer. Epic harmonies, live sampling, electric guitars, double bass and hypnotic drums weave a vivid, apocalyptic landscape. A unique set design has been developed by theatre designer Michael Vale.

Theatre company Kat’s Whiskers bring two productions to the Theatre Tent. ‘The Hamwehads’ delves into a daft and surreal world where mysterious creatures called Hamwehads rule. The production has animated puppets, lyrical poetry, catchy songs and a death defying slapstick battle. And their second show ‘Rosie and the Seagull’ also with plenty of puppets and poetry features larger than life characters including Christian the Crab and Shanty the Mermaid.

There is magic from Peter Clifford who Derren Brown describes as “…one of my favourite magicians and one of the loveliest people I know.” Peter performs grown-up mind melting magic for all ages…not a balloon animal in sight. And we’re delighted to welcome acrobatic clown and mime artist Mr Be performing a unique show of serious stupidity, beautiful skills and radical movement. And finally, Dickens meets Roald Dahl via Horrible Histories with laughs, frights and live music in ‘Grisly Tales from Tumblewater’ by Teasel Theatre Company. This rip-roaring one man show is an exciting and darkly comic delight.

2012 is the fastest selling year to date for Beautiful Days with over 75% of the tickets already sold by the end of March. Its looking like the festival may sell out months in advance of previous years so if you are planning to buy tickets – please don’t leave it too late!

The festival picked up BEST FAMILY FESTIVAL at the UK Festival Awards ceremony at the Roundhouse in London on the 15 November 2011. Thank you to all those who voted for us, all the festival crew and to everyone who comes to Beautiful Days!
